Sock donations for seniors wanted in Liberty County

Socks for Seniors, a nonprofit community-service plan that organizes, collects and distributes new hosiery for comparison citizens, is underway locally.
The purpose is to move holiday hearten — along with a span of hosiery — to comfortable a hearts and cover a cold feed of seniors vital alone or in nursing homes. Local organizer Allenhurst Mayor Thomas Hines and his family have placed concession boxes during SNF Chemtall, 1 Chemical Plant Road in Riceboro; Sheppards Mini Storage U-Haul, 4407 Highway 84 in Allenhurst; and Allenhurst Presbyterian Church, 30 Church St.
“A lot of times, seniors are forgotten. They’re upheld over since of a younger kids and all a Christmas things going on, and a lot of a people in a nursing homes don’t have family that come all a time to see them,” Hines said. “We don’t wish them to be forgotten, and we don’t wish their feet cold. We only wanted to get concerned with creation a seniors not feel neglected during a Christmas holiday. We’re only perplexing to put a small of a Christmas suggestion out there for people who don’t always have it.”
Donation boxes will be collected Monday. Socks will be distributed during 4 p.m. Tuesday during Coastal Manor in Ludowici.
Hines pronounced any accumulation of hosiery can be donated, including tube hosiery and holiday-themed socks. Any leftover hosiery will be donated to seniors not vital in a nursing home and people who are homeless.
